Awa Dieng is a seasoned public health professional with 15 years of experience in managing global health projects.

At the age of 18, Awa moved to the United States right after high school to pursue higher education. She spent 8 years at the Southern Illinois University in Carbondale where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems and a Master’s degree in Public Administration. After graduation, Awa began her public health career as a Digital Health training consultant at Datadyne, and then from there she moved on to other positions including Abt Associates where she spent almost 10 years before joining Amref Health Africa.

While at Abt Associates Inc., a research organization based in the US, she managed many USAID funded projects in the sub-Saharan Africa region, the Caribbean and Eastern European countries focused on health systems strengthening, Family Planning, Tuberculosis, Malaria, NTDs etc…

Awa is currently the Regional Manager for West Africa hub at Amref Health Africa where she leads the development of the regional strategy, manages a portfolio of over 20 donors and oversees all operations and programs in the region.
