Dr. Dereje Duguma Gemeda was born in 1986 in small town named Amuru, Horro Guduru Wollega Zone of Oromia region. Heattended his elementary and high school in the same town. Hepassed Ethiopian school leaving certificateexamination with very great distinction and joined medical school in one of the principaluniversity in Ethiopia(Mekele University) where he graduatedas medical doctor with a gold medal.He started working in rural area at Begi primary hospital as a clinician,servedhis community for two years and got scholarship to Italy for his master’s degree where he graduated in Masters of Global health with very great distinction.Coming back to his country,assignedin one of the biggest region,(Oromia regional health bureau) with capacity of monitoring, evaluation and planning director, then promoted to deputy bureau head, regional government witnessed his extra ordinary knowledge and leadership capacity and promoted to Oromia regional health bureau head. After working for 6 years in Oromia, the federal government wanted him to be promoted as state minister of health. Currently he is leading the national health program and medical Services.
